Abbey Perfumery — From One Image to Many Possibilities

When Abbey Perfumery came to us, they had one strong image of their perfume bottle — a clean studio shot on a plain background. It was well photographed, but it was the only asset they had, and they needed it to work harder across different contexts and uses.

Rather than reshooting the product multiple times, we built everything from that single image. The goal was to show the perfume in a range of settings and situations, while keeping the bottle itself consistent and recognisable.

We started by looking closely at the original photograph — the lighting, the reflections in the glass, the shape of the bottle and label. These details mattered, because they determined how far the image could be pushed without losing realism.

From there, we created a series of new environments for the perfume to sit within. Each scene was designed to feel intentional and appropriate for the brand, whether that meant something clean and minimal or more atmospheric and lifestyle-led. The bottle wasn’t simply placed into these settings — it was carefully integrated, with attention paid to light direction, scale, shadow, and how the glass interacted with its surroundings.

Because perfume bottles are reflective and detailed, the process relied heavily on judgement and refinement. Small changes in light or perspective can quickly make an image feel artificial, so each scene was adjusted by hand until it felt believable.

The end result was a set of images that all came from the same starting point, but looked as though they’d been photographed in different locations. This gave Abbey Perfumery far more flexibility in how they could use their imagery — without the cost or complexity of organising multiple shoots.

It’s a good example of how a single, well-shot product image can be extended thoughtfully, as long as the technology is guided by experience rather than left to run on its own.
